Jul 25, 2015 - Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the most famous video game characters of all time. The series has sold (including downloads on smartphones) over 140 million units. The series continues to sell and there are tons of comics and other merchandise that helps keep the series going. There is even a new cartoon based on the Sonic Boom universe. I'll probably be avoiding that one since it'll have those cheesy lines that I hate in Sonic games, but the point is that Sonic is all over the place right now. And that looks to be gaining momentum. It was confirmed that there will be a Sonic amiibo, Nintendo's answer to Disney Infinity and Skylanders. I'm excited to see 3rd party characters in that world, especially when it's Sonic! There is a new platform from Sega of Japan called Telebeena that's coming out soon and there is a new Sonic game on it. It's not a major Sonic game, but it's Sonic on a Sega platform. That alone makes that awesome! And Sega has recently trademarked a (possible) new Sonic game called Sonic Runners. The trademark has Sega Networks mentioned on it, which is Sega's platform for mobile games, so it seems safe to assume it'll be a phone game. All of these different things, from the new Sonic Boom to the possible smartphone game, are exciting to me and I can't wait to enjoy all of the new games featuring Sonic!
